Crowns, Bridges and Veneers
If you have a damaged or decayed tooth, our dentists can help you choose the best solution.
Crowns and bridges are custom-fitted tooth prosthetics that function and look like natural, healthy teeth.
Veneers are a less invasive alternative, but may only be a solution for those with slight tooth damage or discoloration.
Veneers are thin porcelain or resin shells come in customizable colors and are bonded to the surface of your teeth.
Crowns
A crown, otherwise known as a cap, is custom-fitted to your bite and is placed over your natural tooth or dental implant.
We recommend this procedure for those who have teeth that are damaged or decayed on the surface without extensive damage to the tooth root.
NEW Digital Dentistry
We will trim the affected tooth for a proper crown fit.
A digital Impression will be taken of your bite for crown fabrication (No More Messy Impression materials)
Using modern CAD CAM technology, veneers, crowns and bridges are completed in a short period of time, often within few hours (1 Day Crowns). At Lim Dental, Dr. Lim and Dr. Caroline use a digital Planmeca CAD/CAM workflow to design and fabricate custom ceramic inlays and onlays. After preparing the tooth, a digital scan is taken, the restoration is designed using CAD software, and it is milled in-house using our Planmeca CAD/CAM system. This allows many patients to receive their final restoration in a single visit without the need for temporary restorations.
Bridges
To replace a missing tooth with adjacent healthy teeth, or a tooth that has been missing for a long time (i.e., with gum recession around the area), we may recommend bridges.
Types of Bridges:
Traditional — Caps are bonded over teeth that lie on either side of the missing one
Cantilever — Cap is bonded over a single tooth next to the missing one
Resin-bonded — Porcelain or plastic teeth with gums that are supported by metal “wings”
In the advent of implant dentistry, we strongly advocate for less invasive and damaging procedures that affect healthy teeth.
Veneers
If you’re looking to cosmetically correct and enhance the appearance of one or more teeth, we suggest veneers.
They are very thin, porcelain or resin shells that you can customize in color and shape. They are minimally invasive and are more resistant to future stains.
Common uses for Veneers:
Chipped or broken teeth
Misshapen or irregular teeth
Teeth that do not respond to traditional whitening treatments

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
A CAD/CAM same-day crown is a custom porcelain tooth cap designed and milled entirely on-site during a single clinical appointment. Using our advanced computer system, we take a mess-free 3D digital scan of your mouth, design the crown on a screen, and automatically carve it from a solid ceramic block in just 15 to 20 minutes. We design and mill it right in our clinic within minutes using our advanced Planmeca CAD/CAM digital scanner and milling unit.
-
No, you do not need to wear uncomfortable temporary plastic crowns or wait two weeks for a dental lab to send your restoration back. Because our computerized milling technology completes your permanent full ceramic crown on your very first visit, the final crown is bonded to your tooth immediately.
-
CAD/CAM one-day ceramic crowns are exceptionally strong and are designed to last between 10 to 15 years, or even up to 30 years with excellent oral hygiene. Because they are precisely carved from high-quality solid ceramic or E-Max blocks, they provide the exact same durability as traditional laboratory-made crowns. However, proper care is still necessary to keep the crowns in good condition.
-
While modern CAD/CAM technology works beautifully for most dental restorations—including cosmetic cases, root canal treatments, and dental implants—suitability depends on an individual clinical assessment. Fractures that extend deep below the gum line or severe structural conditions might still require traditional laboratory methods.
